CRISTAL Postdoc job opportunity:
The “[CII] resolved ISM in star-forming galaxies with ALMA” (CRISTAL) ALMA Large Program team invites applications for a 2-year ALMA-ANID postdoctoral position at the Universidad de Concepción (UdeC) in Chile, with possible extension depending on funding. The selected candidate will work with Rodrigo Herrera-Camus (UdeC, PI of CRISTAL) and M. Aravena (UDP, co-PI) investigating the spatially-resolved properties of star-forming galaxies at z~4-6 based on ALMA, HST, and JWST data. The scientific areas of CRISTAL include kinematics, outflows, ISM, and morphology. Please visit www.alma-cristal.info for more information.
Interested candidates with a PhD in astrophysics and experience in galaxy evolution are encouraged to apply. The selected postdoc will benefit from the Partner Group between UdeC and MPE in Garching, which is led by R. Herrera-Camus. In addition, the selected postdoc will have access to the 10% Chilean time in all professional observatories operating in Chile, including ALMA and VLT. The Astronomy Department at UdeC is highly international, and includes 14 faculty, 10 postdocs, and ~40 graduate students. Current research areas include galaxy evolution, astrochemistry, AGN, and theoretical astrophysics.
